A Dashboard is a term for a desktop view that provides important information to the user in a simple numeric, text or graphical form, much like that of an automobile. It is an efficient way to set and measure goals and to provide easy access to key information. Think of it as a management tool to identify potential problems and enable corrective action. What is a Portal? A Portal is a web page that allows user to easily access, extract, and organize information from different information systems (e.g., Quickbooks) and other websites. What will be the frequency of financial information provided? Financial information will be provided based on the source systems (e.g., Quickbooks) that provide the data. If you are directly linked to your source data then the frequency will be every two hours as long as your Web Connector is running. How current is the financial information/data presented? The financial information/data will be as current as the latest upload from the source systems (e.g., Quickbooks) that provide the data. For example; if you keep your financial transactions current and your ledger accounts reconciled, then the data presented on the dashboard will be as current as your last upload of the transactions in your source system. When using the Web Connector, that update occurs once every 6 hours. Will there be any historical financial information? Yes. The source system (e.g., Quickbooks) stores historical financial information and is typically defined as a prior year. For example: Your current year of operation is 2006, the source systems store only the current year and the previous year. The Dashboard can provide this data for comparative analysis. How soon after month-end will current financial data be presented? The financial information/data will be as current as the source systems (e.g., Quickbooks) that provide the data. If you maintain your accounting/source system, then the data presented will be as current after the month-end as the transactions you have input; thus providing you with current month-end closing data. If you are using an outside firm to maintain your source system, then the financial data presented at month-end will be determined when your outside firm completes your month-end closing transactions. Who should have access to the financial data? Access to your financial data is determined by you, the user. The data provided is only as secure as the user warrants. MyBizHomepage provides security in protecting your financial data and only you, the user, have the ability to share this information with whomever you deem necessary. Can data be exported to other software packages? Data presented on the Dashboard is pulled from the source systems (e.g., Quickbooks) and is not in a format to be exported to other software packages. Your source systems, such as Quickbooks, allow you to export data into Excel spreadsheets. The Dashboard is not designed as a tool for export, but is more of an analytical tool to be used for decision making."Uploading Data"...What does that mean? To “upload your data” is to extract the financial information from your source system and deliver it digitally to your financial Dashboard. Think of it as an electronic version of delivering information to your accountant via courier, only in this case the delivery is between your source system and your MyBizHomepage Dashboard. How secure is the system? All information transmitted by the system is protected with the same leading technology practices that leading banks and other financial institutions employ to protect data privacy. We use the strongest data encryption technology currently supported by browsers. A username and password combination validates the requesting identity and prevents one user from accessing another’s data.Do I need special hardware or software? No. All you need is a computer connected to the internet and a General Ledger accounting software (e.g., Quickbooks) package. You will get data into your Financial Dashboard once the accounting software is interfaced with your MyBizHomepage site. How will I know if my data on the Dashboard is right? The data presented on your Financial Dashboard is pulled directly from your source system (e.g., Quickbooks). An easy reconciliation is to look at the data presented and compare it to the data given directly from your source system. For example: If cash shown on your Dashboard is $1,000.00, then the current cash balance in your quickbooks balance sheet should be $1,000.00.What happens if I miss a month of transactions? The data presented on your financial dashboard is only as current as the data in your source system. For example: If the current month is September 2006 and your source system has only been updated with transactions through August 2006, then the data presented on your Dashboard will only reflect data up through the August 2006 date. I received an error box when I attempted to run the Web Connector. What should I do? The error message should provide you with a button that says "Continue". Click on that button. Chances are, you experienced a run-time error. That's another way of saying your computer is taking too long. Can I manipulate data on the Dashboard? The data presented on your Dashboard is pulled directly from your source systems (e.g., Quickbooks) and is not able to be manipulated or changed. All transactions occur in your source system and this is where you would edit your data. Think of the Dashboard as a mirror image of what is in the source system.I do NOT have an account. The underlying system in the Dashboard will recognize any changes you made and will adjust accordingly, thus presenting the data as it would be reflected in your source system. Will the financial information on the Dashboard be different from my accounting system’s financial statements? Your source system (e.g., Quickbooks) is the source for data presented on your dashboard and will not be any different than the data in your source system. The Dashboard presentation format is in summary form and does not display the data in the same detail as your source system may. Full financial statements, i.e., income statement, balance sheet, etc., are not presented on the dashboard.Graphical presentations are based on what data? Graphical representation of data is based on data from the source systems (e.g., Quickbooks).
